Ellis Mental Health
1023 State STreet

The building at 1023 State Street in Schenectady, once home to Contec Holdings, underwent a significant transformation in 2017 when Ellis Medicine repurposed it into a comprehensive mental health center. This $3.5 million renovation nearly doubled the space of Ellis's previous mental health facility, expanding from 19,000 to 37,200 square feet, thereby enhancing the capacity to serve the Capital Region's mental health needs .
The expanded facility houses a range of services, including outpatient therapy, crisis intervention, and specialized programs for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Notably, it features two walk-in crisis centers: The Living Room for adults and The Family Room for youth aged 10–17. These centers offer immediate support in a calming environment, providing an alternative to emergency room visits and connecting individuals to appropriate resources.
Today, 1023 State Street stands as a vital component of Schenectady's healthcare landscape, reflecting a commitment to accessible and comprehensive mental health care
