430 Franklin St
Retail/office Mixed use

The building at 430 Franklin Street in downtown Schenectady, once home to law firms and medical offices, was purchased in March 2020—just before the COVID-19 pandemic. They renamed the two-story, 17,000-square-foot property The Benjamin in honor of their great-grandfather, Benjamin, as a tribute to their family's legacy in the region.
Spraragen Partners invested $2.4 million into a comprehensive renovation of the historic structure, updating it with energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems, a new elevator, modern mechanicals, a redesigned façade, and a new roof. Their vision was to transform the outdated office space into a vibrant mixed-use building that could help fuel the revitalization of downtown Schenectady.
Today, The Benjamin is home to a diverse mix of tenants including Urban Co-Works, Simone's Kitchen, the U.S. National Guard, and Adecco.
The Benjamin stands as a symbol of adaptive reuse, family legacy, and post-pandemic resilience, blending Schenectady’s historic charm with a fresh wave of entrepreneurial energy.
