Urban Co-Works is growing again in Schenectady.
The firm has agreed to lease an additional 1,859 square feet at 430 Franklin St. across from city hall, next to the Jay Street Marketplace, a pedestrian mall downtown.
The expansion will provide nine more private offices, boosting the total to 46 offices and nearly 15,000 square feet of flexible workspace, the company announced.
The building, known as The Benjamin, is owned by Spraragen Partners.
The new offices are expected to be available this summer.
Jeff Goronkin, founder and CEO, said in a prepared statement that demand has increased.
Urban Co-Works has meeting rooms, a training room, coworking space, phone booths and common areas.
Office users include entrepreneurs, remote workers, nonprofits, startups and established businesses. They rent space daily or monthly.
Goronkin started Urban Co-Works in Schenectady in 2017 and moved the business four years later into the renovated 430 Franklin St.
Simone's Kitchen, a popular restaurant, is on the ground floor.
The Urban Co-Works footprint has expanded since then in Schenectady and elsewhere. It now has offices in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Holyoke, Massachusetts.
Urban Co-Works is the 10th-largest coworking facility in the Albany region, according to the most recent Albany Business Review List.
